Zusammenfassung
Mit dem Begriff Variable wird all das bezeichnet, was in irgendeiner Art und Weise
im Rahmen einer Erhebung, Studie, Experiment etc. gemessen oder manipuliert wird.
Man unterscheidet zwischen (qualitativen) Nominal- und Ordinalvariablen sowie zwischen
(quantitativen) Intervall- und Verhältnisvariablen. Außerdem unterschiedet man zwischen
unabhängigen und abhängigen Variablen. Anhand von Beispielen wird erläutert, wie der
Begriff Variable zu verwenden ist.
Abstract
The term variable relates to anything that is measured or manipulated in a study.
Independent variables are those that are varied by and under control of the investigator.
Dependent variables are those that respond to the experimental condition. Variables
are also classified as nominal, ordinal, interval or ratio. Nominal and ordinal variables
are qualitative by nature whereas interval and ration variables can be measured in
some units and therefore called quantitative.
